Set up by a team of running enthusiasts, all of whom have lost a family member or a friend to cancer, Run 4 Cancer is primarily a provider of days out and short-breaks for British families affected by cancer.
We also make grants to UK based care institutions and support research into the positive effects of exercise (e.g. running) and how it can help with cancer prevention and recovery.
Starting in Newcastle upon Tyne the 13.1 mile route takes runners through the city centre towards the River Tyne where Kerry will then cross over the iconic Tyne Bridge before crossing the finish line in South Shields.
"Last year my brother-in-law was unfortunately diagnosed with cancer amongst a number of other life changing conditions. Matt lives in Australia with my sister and their young family and from the offset their courage, strength and positivity has been inspirational and I wanted to do something through my running to show my support. So here I am taking part in the Great North Run."
Please sponsor Kerry and leave your words of encouragement below!
Thanks very much
