|NEWS||16th Jun 2013|
Set up by a team of running enthusiasts, all of whom have lost a family member or a friend to cancer, Run 4 Cancer is primarily a provider of days out and short-breaks for British families affected by cancer. We also make grants to UK based care institutions and support research into the positive effects of exercise (e.g. running) and how it can help with cancer prevention and recovery.
On Sunday the 22nd of September 2013, Jon Crouch will be running the New Forest Marathon in support of Run 4 Cancer.
This will be Jon's first competitive run for some time. The last one was in 1992 when he was only 38 - see insert picture below!
Jon was running just over 6 minute miles back then but will be happy to complete this course at about twice that pace now he is coming up to 60.
Like many of us Cancer has affected those around me, having lost parents, grand parents, friends and colleagues.
Most recently a colleague lost her 22 year old son after having battled with cancer herself.
I am intending that the money I raise will ultimately go to research into what effect sport can have on cancer in honour of this young man who was so keen on sport himself.
