Set up by a team of running enthusiasts, all of whom have lost a family member or a friend to cancer, Run 4 Cancer is primarily a provider of days out and short-breaks for families affected by cancer.
We also make grants to UK based care institutions and support research into the positive effects of exercise (e.g. running) and how it can help with cancer prevention and recovery.
This year's Shrewsbury Half Marathon will take place on Sunday the 17th of June 2018.
The historical and picturesque town of Shrewsbury is a great running location and the course incorporates some of the town's greatest land marks.
What's more, the route is completely closed to traffic for the duration of the race!
The course begins and ends at the Shropshire County Show ground, the route itself takes in both the medieval town centre of Shrewsbury and some of Shropshire’s beautiful countryside.
As you run through the town centre you will be treated to many listed buildings and lots of steep narrow streets with obscure names. You will run along Mardol Head, Milk Street, Wyle Cop, Dog Pole and past Grope Lane to name but a few.
After you ‘conquer the Wyle Cop’ you then head out to run the second half of the race in the Shropshire countryside before finishing back in the showground.
Sign up as a Run 4 Cancer runner and we'll give you a subsidised place! All we ask is that you pledge to raise some sponsorship funds for Run 4 Cancer!
