Set up by a team of running enthusiasts, all of whom have lost a family member or a friend to cancer, Run 4 Cancer is a provider of days out and short-breaks for British families affected by cancer.
We also make grants to UK based care institutions and support research into the positive effects of exercise (e.g. running) and how it can help with cancer prevention and recovery. Run 4 Cancer is a standalone Division of the 4 Cancer Group.
The Berlin marathon is one of the largest and most popular road races in the world. In 2008 alone the race had 40,827 starters from 107 countries and more than one million spectators.
First run in 1974, the event traditionally takes place on the last weekend in September. More world records have been set on the Berlin course than anywhere else.
Berlin is known for its flat profile, even surface, cheering spectators and its frequently mild autumn temperatures.
Originally only run in West Berlin, when the city was divided, the fast and flat course now weaves back and forth across the former wall.
The marathon ends with all racers passing through the Brandenburg Gate. The Berlin Marathon is a memorable way to run through history while touring the city's iconic landmarks!
