Belfast City Marathon 2027

Known for its huge community spirit and incredible atmosphere, the Belfast City Marathon is truly unique. Few marathons pass through such a concentrated mix of industrial heritage, political history and modern redevelopment.

A fully AIMS certified race, the Belfast City Marathon has quickly become one of the UK’s most popular marathons and is seen by those in the know as being the “hidden gem” when compared to the largest events such as the London and Manchester marathons.

The Route

The Belfast City Marathon is a 26.2 mile (42.2 Km) loop through the entire city of Belfast. The Belfast City Marathon has become one of Northern Ireland’s largest mass-participation events and it’s easy to see why! The route combines famous city streets, extended riverside sections, traverses beautiful parks, cuts through historic industrial zones and past iconic landmarks. Quite literally, there’s something fascinating around every corner.

It starts at Stormont Estate (Prince of Wales Avenue) in east Belfast, then sweeps through the east, south, west and north of the city using major roads which are closed for the event such as Upper Newtownards, Beersbridge, Castlereagh, Boucher and Falls Road. The course then winds through the city centre and crosses the River Lagan into south Belfast. The route ends at Ormeau Park, giving runners a full tour of Belfast’s varied districts, parks and riverfronts.

We have a number of subsidised places to give away. All we ask is that you raise £450.00 in sponsorship funds in support of Run 4 Cancer. We set very low minimum sponsorship funds and fully understand that the cost of living crisis is impacting people’s ability to sponsor people. Run 4 Cancer - About Us

Set up by a team of running enthusiasts, all of whom have lost a family member or a friend to cancer, Run 4 Cancer is primarily a provider of days out and short-breaks for British families affected by cancer. We give families something to look forward to during the most difficult of times. We also make grants to UK based care institutions and support research into the positive effects of exercise (e.g. running) and how it can help with cancer prevention and recovery.
