Great Scottish Run Half Marathon 2026
First held in 1982, the AJ Bell Great Scottish Run has grown each year and is now Scotland’s largest running event. This incredible weekend of running and side events includes a Half Marathon, 10K plus a Junior & Mini event for families and children. In 2012, a staggering 24,089 people took part to reaffirm the race as the largest mass participation sporting event in Scotland.

The Route
With a city centre start and finish, the AJ Bell Great Scottish Run is a celebration of everything that makes Glasgow truly great: inspiring urban architecture, green spaces, history, music, strength, spirit and, of course, great people, personality and humour. Thousands of runners take part each year to challenge themselves and to raise money for good causes. And Scotland’s friendliest city always delivers on the support front too, with crowds of locals turning out each year to cheer and high-five from beginning to end. Plus there’s medals, finisher t-shirts and bragging rights for all!

We have a number of free and subsidised places available. All we ask is that you try to raise £350.00 sponsorship funds in support of Run 4 Cancer (excluding Gift Aid). We set very low minimum sponsorship funds and fully understand that the cost of living crisis is impacting people’s ability to sponsor people. To reserve your Run 4 Cancer place, sign up below!

Run 4 Cancer - About Us
Set up by a team of running enthusiasts, all of whom have lost a family member or a friend to cancer, Run 4 Cancer is primarily a provider of days out and short-breaks for British families affected by cancer. We give families something to look forward to during the most difficult of times. We also make grants to UK based care institutions and support research into the positive effects of exercise (e.g. running) and how it can help with cancer prevention and recovery.
