Great West Run 2026
The Great West Run is Devon’s largest race. We are thrilled to be able to offer our supporters the opportunity to run in this incredible event which is part of the ‘Great Run Series’ . Runners can choose from a Half Marathon, a 10 Km and a Community Mile.

The Route(s)
Half Marathon: Also known as ‘The Great West Run’ this exciting route (13.1 miles) takes runners route through the beautiful city of Exeter on closed roads. This half marathon has it all; a journey through a historic city centre, pretty country lanes and a fantastic stadium finish.
10K: The closed road route follows the first and last sections of the half marathon course. This is an ideal next step for the regular 5K runner wanting to progress to the next level.
Community Mile: Suitable for all ages and abilities, this is a great way to start getting active! The Community Mile is also a great opportunity for supporters, families and children to take part in a large event with a great atmosphere.

We have a number of free and subsidised places available. All we ask is that you try to raise £150.00 sponsorship funds (10km) or £250.00 for the half marathon (excluding Gift Aid) in support of Run 4 Cancer. We set very low minimum sponsorship funds and fully understand that the cost of living crisis is impacting people’s ability to sponsor people. Set up by a team of running enthusiasts, all of whom have lost a family member or a friend to cancer, Run 4 Cancer is primarily a provider of days out and short-breaks for British families affected by cancer. We give families something to look forward to during the most difficult of times. We also make grants to UK based care institutions and support research into the positive effects of exercise (e.g. running) and how it can help with cancer prevention and recovery.
