New Forest Marathon 2022
The New Forest Marathon was the brainchild of Mick Manley and first run in 1983.
This event offers a 5k, 10k, Half and Full Marathon, so a race for all abilities. The 5k, 10k and Half are flat courses that wind through the beautiful New Forest, if you’re lucky you may even be joined by New Forest ponies!
The Full Marathon undulates in places and offers one of the most stunning courses in the UK. There are both PB’s and incredible memories to be made here!
Date:
- 10 September 2023
Introduction
The race starts and finishes in a well organised purpose built Race Village in the heart of the New Forest. Runners are welcomed home to live music from the main stage in the chill out zone, a kids activities area, a well stocked runners race trade village and much much more… this is more than just a marathon… in fact this inspiring event has been listed in the UK’s top 5 races for the last 3 years!
September 2013 saw the last New Forest Marathon held in New Milton. However, in 2014 unfortunately the event did not run due to a number of factors.
In 2015, Andy and Chris worked tirelessly along with the support from the former NFM committee to create a New Forest Marathon Team for the future. From that point on, the New Forest Marathon was reborn! On 13th September 2015 the New Forest Marathon was relaunched to capture the community spirit once again! Situated at the New Forest Park Showground, it hosted a modern race village, new course routes and additional events such as the Half Marathon, 10k, 5k and Woodland Walk whereby 4000 runners and spectators attended.
The Route
The multi terrain course offers one of the most scenic running experiences in the country. A stunning blend of forest enclosures, an old railway line, open roads, far reaching views and of course the famous New Forest ponies.

Run 4 Cancer - About Us
Set up by a team of running enthusiasts, all of whom have lost a family member or a friend to cancer, Run 4 Cancer is primarily a provider of days out and short-breaks for British families affected by cancer. We give families something to look forward to during the most difficult of times. We also make grants to UK based care institutions and support research into the positive effects of exercise (e.g. running) and how it can help with cancer prevention and recovery. Find out more about us here.
