Portsmouth Coastal Waterside Marathon 2026
Offering three course distances (Half Marathon, Marathon and 50Km Ultra), this year’s Portsmouth Coastal Waterside Marathon is set to be the biggest yet! This popular annual endurance event, staged along Portsmouth’s stunning shoreline is known for its friendly atmosphere and scenic coastal route. The event attracts both seasoned runners and first-time participants alike. With many local clubs, volunteers and local residents contributing to the day, the event has a fantastic atmoshere. Each route is well marshalled and offers a range of expertly placed aid stations.

The Routes
Each of the three routes (Half Marathon, Full Marathon and 50Km Ultra) start from the Pyramids Centre in Southsea. Starting and finishing in the same place, all of the ‘out and back’ courses can best be described as “multi-terrain” with a mixture of paved promenades, gravel coastal paths and even some sections along the beach (on Hayling Island). All courses offer incredible views of the Solent, historic naval sites and local wildlife habitats. Because the terrain varies, runners experience both fast / flat stretches and more challenging trail segments, making it a uniquely balanced and engaging race.

Free Places For Cancer Patients
Given the importance of exercise in both helping to prevent cancer and to assist in recovery post diagnosis, Run 4 Cancer also has a number of places to give away to people in recovery. If you have received a cancer diagnosis in the past five years and would like to take part in one of the New Forest events we would love to hear from you.
Run 4 Cancer - About Us
Set up by a team of running enthusiasts, all of whom have lost a family member or a friend to cancer, Run 4 Cancer is primarily a provider of days out and short-breaks for British families affected by cancer. We give families something to look forward to during the most difficult of times. We also make grants to UK based care institutions and support research into the positive effects of exercise (e.g. running) and how it can help with cancer prevention and recovery.
