Set up by a team of running enthusiasts, all of whom have lost a family member or a friend to cancer, Run 4 Cancer is a provider of days out and short-breaks for British families affected by cancer.
We also make grants to UK based care institutions and support research into the positive effects of exercise (e.g. running) and how it can help with cancer prevention and recovery.
The Great South Run is without question the leading 10 mile running event in the South of England being held in October each year. The event has been growing since its launch in 1990 and takes place in Portsmouth (Hampshire).
Circa 20,000 people take part in the event every year and the atmosphere is fantastic. Runners are treated to various 'entertainment stations' along the route with no less than eight music zones dotted around the course.
TheĀ fast and flat course takes runners past the city of Portsmouth's leading sights and landmarks including the Spinnaker Tower, HMS Victory, HMS Warrior, Southsea Gardens, South Parade Pier, Boating Lake, Southsea Castle and Eastney Esplanade.
This iconic 10 mile running event finishes on the seafront with beautiful views of the Solent and the Isle of Wight. As a local charity based near Portsmouth, we usually have lots of runners who support Run 4 Cancer in the event.
