Helen Boon’s Derby Half Marathon
13 March 2018
On Sunday the 3 June 2018, Helen Boon will be joining many other runners in Derby to raise funds for Run 4 Cancer. Helen has set herself the challenge of running the Derby Half Marathon.
Commenting on her challenge, Helen said:
“As the big ‘40’ approaches I’ve decided to set myself a challenge to complete my first half marathon!
I would definitely not class myself as a runner, I’m not sure I even enjoy running! I decided just over 2 years ago to take part in a local ‘Couch to 5k’ programme and have carried on running with a great group ever since. I vowed that 10km was my limit but was inspired by so many others from our running group that I decided to set myself a half marathon challenge!
As additional motivation and an added push to reach the finish line I’d like to run for charity. Sadly too many family and friends have been affected by cancer. With this in mind I’m going to raise money for Run 4 Cancer when I run the Derby Half Marathon on the 3rd June 2018.
I really do appreciate any donations towards this fantastic charity. Thank you very much for your support.” Helen

Run 4 Cancer – About Us
Set up by a team of running enthusiasts, all of whom have lost a family member or a friend to cancer, Run 4 Cancer is primarily a provider of days out and short-breaks for British families affected by cancer. We also make grants to UK based care institutions and support research into the positive effects of exercise (e.g. running) and how it can help with cancer prevention and recovery.
