James’ Windermere Marathon
07 April 2011
James Cole, has committed himself to a major challenge in order to raise funds for Run 4 Cancer.
Like so many others James has lost family and close friends to cancer. He is also a keen sailor, currently studying hard (well, studying anyhow!) for his Coastal Skipper qualification with the medium term objective of sailing across the Atlantic with a few friends. Therefore, a fundraising partnership with Sail 4 Cancer was an obvious one and one which extends to his business Panache Cruises too.
Last year it was a 250 mile bike ride (he hates cycling), this year it’s the Windermere Marathon (he hates running more than cycling!!) Up until a few weeks ago he had NEVER done any kind of run outdoors, hence the challenge is a big one especially given this marathon is round Lake Windermere where there are mountains to run over too.
Commenting on the challenge, James said:
“The bike ride raised in excess of £6,000 last year; it would be great to take my fundraising efforts for the past 12 months beyond £10,000,” said James. “My good friends, colleagues and family gave me unbelievable support last year, I am hoping for similar this year.”
“Run 4 Cancer is such an excellent charity, raising money for respite opportunities for those affected by cancer, along with investing in treatment, care and research into a disease which will directly affect 1 in 3 of us at some point in our lives.” Cole went on to say.
“Please give generously your donation means so much. Thank you!”
