Meet Awesome Alex!
21 August 2023
Meet Alex – or as we like to know her, AWESOME Alex! She’ll be taking on 26.2 miles of Marathon Eryri for us in October and has quite the story! Please spend a few moments
Training is going well for the Marathon Eryri 🏔️!
I still cannot believe I am number 315… the number my Dad Paul Hyde ran with 25 years ago when he did his first Snowdonia Marathon when I was 8! I remember it to this very day and when the race organisers heard of my reasons for wanting to run the race this year, they blew me away with the offer of my Dad’s number. I can literally follow in my Dad’s footsteps. He’s done some of the training with me on his bike 🚴🏼 and he’ll be there on the day with my whole family. My son will watch me finish at the age of 3. I only hope I’ll inspire him to run like my Dad has inspired me. He is my hero and to have him there means everything.
Life is short and we all need to make the most of it. When I read that Run 4 Cancer makes dreams come true for cancer patients I knew they were the right charity for me to run for. I believe in the gift of time and experiences over material things so their mission is close to my heart and I wanted to support them. Meanwhile I’m seizing the day, embarking on this marathon adventure with my Dad and my family alongside me every step of the way.
My Mum, Heather Hyde is running some of my long runs with me! I say ‘some’ but so far she’s done them all with me! She’s an avid runner having run for nearly 30 years and averages around 50 miles each week. She’s awesome and being able to run with my best friend as my training buddy is the best!
What a fabulous training journey for the marathon this is; I am truly loving every minute (even when it hurts 😂). This weekend I’ll be doing a 15 miler.
I am so grateful for this opportunity so thank you so much Run 4 Cancer!
I still need some more sponsorship so if anyone is willing to donate please follow the link to my page: http://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/agslater
Thank you ever so much 🥰!
