EVENT 24th Sep 2017

Nottingham Marathon & Half Marathon: 24 Sept 2017

Run 4 Cancer - About Us

Set up by a team of running enthusiasts, all of whom have lost a family member or a friend to cancer, Run 4 Cancer is a provider of days out and short-breaks for British families affected by cancer.

We also make grants to UK based care institutions and support research into the positive effects of exercise (e.g. running) and how it can help with cancer prevention and recovery.

Robin Hood Marathon, Half Marathon & Mini Marathon

The Ikano Robin Hood Marathon, Half Marathon and Mini Marathon take place on one of the fastest, flattest courses in the UK.

These are the perfect events for first time competitors or seasoned runners who are looking to set personal bests!

As it's name suggests, many people choose to dress up as 'Robin Hood' in memory of the famous man in tights who lived in nearby Sherwood Forest!

The Routes

Run 4 Cancer in this year's Robin Hood Marathon

The Ikano Robin Hood Marathon Series incorporates a full marathon, a half marathon and a mini marathon, the latter being designed for youngsters!

All routes take runners past Nottingham's famous landmarks. Whatever the distance, all runners will be met at the finish line by huge cheering crowds!

Full Marathon

From the city centre, you will run along the tree-lined University Boulevard and through the University. After heading back towards the city centre, you will proceed to Colwick Country Park and the National Water Sports Centre at Holme Pierrepont Country Park before winding your way along the river to the finish at Victoria Embankment. Minimum age: 18 years.

Half Marathon

The fast flat course takes you down the tree-lined University Boulevard, around Highfields Lake and through the Trent building courtyard at the University. With views of the castle as you come down Castle Boulevard, you'll see the famous Trent Bridge cricket ground and Nottingham Forest football club as you wind along the river to the finish at Victoria Embankment. Minimum age: 17 years.

Mini Marathon

The scenic mini marathon route largely follows the beautiful river Trent and finishes in front of huge crowds in the race village. You can run or walk the 1.5 mile (2.5km) route in a fun community focused race with parents, friends, siblings, teachers or anyone else that you can persuade! Minimum age: 4 years
