Set up by a team of running enthusiasts, all of whom have lost a family member or a friend to cancer, Run 4 Cancer is a provider of days out and short-breaks for British families affected by cancer.
We also make grants to UK based care institutions and support research into the positive effects of exercise (e.g. running) and how it can help with cancer prevention and recovery.
Being situated in the heart of the Lake District, this marathon is considered by many to be the "most scenic in the UK."
The race follows an anti-clockwise route taking runners through Hawkshead, Newby Bridge, Bowness-on-Windermere and Ambleside.
Approximately 1,500 runners are expected to take part in 2022.
The race starts at Brathay Hall. After running through Clappersgate village, runners pass Graythwaite Hall and Lakeside towards Newby Bridge. After crosssing the bridge towards Bowness-on-Windermere, participants continue towards Waterhead and Ambleside at which point they turn back towards Clappersgate and the finish at Brathay Hall.
